Welcome to Spark speech
Spark Speech is a private practice in Charlotte, N.C. dedicated to supporting children throughout their communication journey. Our mission is to help your child embrace their full potential by turning challenges into a chance to play, learn, and thrive. We help our children and their families through top-notch, evidenced-based speech therapy. At Spark Speech, we put the FUN in FUNctional and strive to make each session as special and unique as the children we serve.
Speech Therapy Sessions
Through our home & school-based services, we bring top-notch speech therapy to YOU, providing flexible scheduling that caters to each family's specific needs. We work hard to foster communication between caregivers, teachers, and other providers to promote carryover of skills outside of therapy. Online teletherapy services are available to all residents of North Carolina and offer added convenience for busy families.
Evaluations
Our holistic evaluation approach allows us to gain a clear picture of your child’s strengths and weaknesses across various communication domains. Skills assessed during evaluations include the following: expressive & receptive language, oral motor, articulation, phonological processing, fluency, executive functioning and social/pragmatic.
Groups & Classes
Spark Speech is excited to offer a variety of groups & classes to support caregivers, schools, and daycares in the Charlotte area. We have experience leading social skills groups, caregiver coaching classes, and language-based play groups that promote important life skills for all ages.
Meet Your Speech Therapist
Addy Brotherton, M.S.P., CCC-SLP
Founder, Speech-Language Pathologist
Addy obtained an undergraduate degree in communications from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Carolina in 2017. Addy has worked with children of all ages in a variety of settings, including schools, daycares, in-home treatment, early intervention, and private practice. She has worked with a variety of populations and treated various conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Developmental Delays, Expressive and Receptive Language Disorders, Dyslexia, Oral Motor Disorders, Articulation/Phonological Disorders.
Outside of speech therapy, Addy loves to travel, read novels, relax at her family’s lake house, and spend time with her daughter, husband, and golden doodle.
Addy Brotherton, the founder of Spark Speech PLLC, is a Charlotte-based speech-language pathologist who enjoys creating FUNctional and engaging therapy sessions for her pediatric clients. She started Spark Speech to create a space where therapy is based on connection and acceptance. Addy understands the importance of building a strong relationship with her clients and their families. She uses these connections to provide personalized treatment and care tailored to each family’s values and goals.

Spark Speech currently provides services in Myers Park, South Park, and Cotswold. Speech sessions range from 30-60 mins depending on your child’s needs and diagnosis. Therapy may be available in home, school, or daycare settings depending on the therapist’s schedule and availability.

Spark Speech is happy to offer a free 15-minute consultation call. During this call, we will discuss your concerns, answer questions, and provide guidance on how to move forward based on your child’s needs.
Evaluation
Just as every child if different, the evaluation process is unique to each child depending on their age, area of concern, and other factors. After the in-depth evaluation is complete, you will receive a detailed report and treatment plan. We are happy review the evaluation and treatment plan with you to ensure all questions are answered.
Start Therapy
Let the fun begin! We bring our services to YOU by offering therapy in your home, school, and daycare. We also offer teletherapy services for children who would benefit from this method of therapy. We will keep you updated with weekly updates and home activities to promote carryover at home.
Insurance & billing
Spark Speech, PLLC is a private pay practice at this time and does not directly accept insurance. We will provide documentation when requested for reimbursement by your insurance. Clients are responsible for confirming insurance coverage and handling all reimbursement. Please note that all insurance companies vary and speech-language therapy services may or may not be a covered benefit by your insurance. We accept payment by cash, personal check, Health Savings Account (HSA), or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover).
